Balances are part of a comprehensive personal development system called Educational Kinesiology. Brain Gym and Edu-K bring movement together in a wonderful unit. They allow students to challenge any learning block and move forward towards many appropriate goals.

The Balance is a specific five-step process done for the purpose of enhancing the student's ability to move between effort (low gear) and ease (high gear).

Student and teacher get into P.A.C.E.
E Energetic -Water is the medium that increases electrical potential across cell membranes, essential for nerve net function.
C Clear -Brain Buttons release inhibited eye movement by relaxing tension in the back neck muscles that originate in the visual/occipital area.
A Active -Cross Crawl simultaneously activates the left and right cerebral hemispheres.
P Positive -Hook-Ups restore equilibrium after emotional or environmental stress.
Student creates a goal and the instructor coaches as necessary. The goal represents the next step towards what the student wants to have, do, or be better or different about him/herself. The goal is:
P Positive -negative words are not included.
A Active -the wording is in the present verbal tense, as if it were already true.
C Clear -the statement is short and easy to understand.
E Energetic -the student really wants this goal to be true.
Pre-activities establish what the student and his/her brain-body system know and don't know. The student and instructor may notice particular areas of weakness and/or difficulty.
Learning activities activate the brain circuitry through movement. The student is taught easy, systematic, effective physical movements so that his/her brain and body as a system function more efficiently.
Post activities implement new learning and generalize to other situations. A celebration of growth is customary.
